Instant postcards with a cell phone

021508_postcard.gifThere are vactioners who delight in looking for postcards. I'm not one of them. Even after finding a retailer who sells them, the selection always seems less than satisfying, sort of like the choices in most U.S. presidential elections. With all the digital snap power we carry around these days, you'd think someone would have figured out a way by now to make the whole postcard thing less of a hassle. Well, someone has. That someone is WYWH.mobi.

WYWH--an anacronym for that trite battle cry of postcard scribblers everywhere: "Wish You Were Here"--lets you shoot a photo with your camera phone and create a postcard from it that can be mailed from the cell. You'll need access to the mobile Web and use a carrier other than Verizon to tap into the service. And at $1.99 a pop it costs a lot more than sending postcards the old-fashioned way. But convenience, customization and the "gee whiz factor" may make the steeper costs worthwhile for many.
