During these times when any news seems to be bad news about dead-tree publishing, Scott Kelby deserves a tip of the hat. Scott is the author of a
number of technology and photography volumes, including
The Photoshop Elements 6 Book for Digital Photographers and
The Digital Photography Book, both published by
Peachpit Press.
The Digital Photography Book is of particular note because, as its publisher pointed out this week, it has been named by
Nielsen Bookscan as the best-selling digital photography book of all time with more than 250,000 copies in print. Needless to say, Scott was pleased to hear the news about the success of
TDPB from his publisher, but he was even more excited to learn that volume two of the book, which was published in January, has been selling, for a comparable period, three to four times as many copies as volume one sold. The gracious writer noted in
his blog today, "My humble thanks to all my readers for their trust, support, and for making darn sure there will be a Volume 3."
