Jalbum launches beta release of album app
Most online photo sharing sites start off as a place to deposit photos and add software perks as the Webpost grows. Jalbum is a little different. It's a software program that grew into a photo sharing site. While many image divviers are perfectly happy plugging their snaps into the boilerplate offered by the typical picture portal, the Jalbum crew has catered to a more discerning lot, a lot with a more creative bent. The application allows a photographer to design and build gallery pages for their work. The pages can be posted to the Jalbum Web site for free, or any other place where Web pages can be posted. In the latest release of the program, version 8.0, a new editor has been added that allows a gallerista to crop images, eliminate red eye and adjust a picture's brightness, contrast and saturation. It also includes tools for gamma correction, image rotation and straightening, grayscale manipulation and sepia conversion, as well as sharpening, blurring, flipping, inverting and pixelating picutres. Other additions include
- Complete support of drag and drop.
- Saving edited images as separate files.
- Display of thumbnails in the File Picker view.
- Faster loading of images without embedded thumbnails.
- An improved image property editor.
- Batch application of image filters.
- RSS and Widget support.
- GPS coordinate reporting.
If you're a do-it-yourself kind of person, you should take a look at what the new release of Jalbum has to offer.
